Cosmetic dentistry procedure is a branch of dentistry whose goal is to enhance the appearance of teeth and smile. Simply put, cosmetic dentistry is any tooth-related procedure that is done outside of necessity.

It is always a good decision to have your teeth fixed rather than leave them as they are, for this may lead to low self-esteem and even physical ailments. Nowadays, cosmetic dentistry procedures can be done in various ways and differ from person to person. Most common procedures are simple and are performed professionally by dentists in campsie.

Before going on with any procedures your dentist will help you determine what will work best for you.

In this article, we’ll see 5 common types of cosmetic dentistry procedures.

1. Teeth whitening or bleaching.
Teeth whitening procedure is one of the cosmetic dentistry procedures where you can get white teeth. These procedures are performed with safe dental ingredients like professional teeth bleaching products.

Teeth discoloration may be caused by the aging process, decaying teeth, or junk food and drinks like coffee, soda, etc. Many people opt for this procedure as it is more affordable and isn’t a huge commitment as compared to other ones.

Teeth whitening can be done at home as well, but it is recommended to get it done by a dentist. Many people can use teeth whitening toothpaste to achieve whiter teeth over time as well.

2. Getting outlays and inlays.
Inlays and outlays are two well-known restorative dental procedures. They serve different purposes but have very similar results. They are used as indirect fillings when a tooth shows slightly mild decay.

Onlays use porcelain to repair the damage a tooth has sustained whereas inlays refer to the use of natural or artificial materials to replace an entire tooth. They not only strengthen the teeth but prevent further decay as well.

3. Composite bonding.
Composite bonding is a cosmetic procedure for repairing and restoring damaged, discolored, or decayed teeth. It involves adhering an adhesive resin to the surface of the existing tooth substance, which is then hardened by light or a curing agent.

Tooth bonding or composite bonding is one of the least expensive procedures but its lifetime is much less than a porcelain veneer.

4. Using dental veneers.
Dental veneers are extremely thin pieces of dental porcelain that are bonded on top of your tooth’s surface. They can be used to protect damaged teeth, fix the alignment of unsightly or uneven teeth, or improve the appearance of your smile. Dental veneers are usually custom-made and look exceptionally realistic.

5. Dental implants.

Dental implants are a great path to help those struggling with the effects of missing teeth. By replacing one tooth, or multiple teeth, patients can get their smile back and remove most obstacles they face from eating, talking, and socializing.

Dental implants have evolved in material type to make them virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth. The procedure involves the dentist inserting a small titanium screw into the jaw at the site of the missing tooth, which serves as the support for the crown.

If you’re considering any cosmetic dentistry procedures then you need to consult your dentist who can offer a procedure and guide you better on the one you’re specifically interested in.
