Details at the end of this post on how to win a copy of Grave Visions and a link to purchase it.
It has been a very long wait for the fourth book in the Alex Craft series by Kalayna Price. I was so excited to finally get to read Grave Visions, as this series is one of my favorites! Alex is a grave witch who can communicate with the dead and she primarily talks to the recent dead to find out why and how they died–sometimes for the police, and sometimes for clients who come to her agency.
Recently Alex found out that she is actually fae, which is causing her no end of trouble. Not only is she trying to keep that a secret, but the fact that she isn’t affiliated with any of the Faerie courts is slowly causing her to fade, and also affecting those under her protection. On top of that, she finds herself needing to investigate a new drug that causes hallucinations to become real, often with deadly consequences–and the investigation takes her into the Faerie world. Alex has to find out what’s going on and put a stop to it, both for the sake of the human world, and the Faerie, and for the sake of her own freedom. And if that isn’t enough, she has a wedding to be in!
Alex’s love life is also extremely complicated as she is in love with Death (which is both illegal and complicated), and she still cares for Falin, who is a knight of the Winter Queen and must do whatever the queen asks of him.
I absolutely love this series and this latest book was well worth the wait. This series has my favorite combination of mystery and fantasy, and Alex is a wonderful and complex character. She is kick ass, brave, and strong–but she is also vulnerable when it comes to those she loves and struggling to make the right choices. It is also interesting to explore the fantasy world that Kalayna has created–in this book, we learned more about the Faerie Courts than we have in previous ones. Death is one of my favorite characters, and I have enjoyed exploring how their relationship has evolved and the obstacles they face.
If you love urban fantasy, DO NOT miss out on this series. If you haven’t read the first three books, I highly recommend that you go grab those first, and then read Grave Visions. I so hope that we will be getting more books in this series, and on a more regular basis now!

I’ve become more fascinated by the fantasy genre tapping into my thought of having been a ‘magical fairy,’ or maybe just an ordinary one, in a previous life. This seems to be a great reading adventure that has other books as well. Thanks, Kalayna! Thanks, KRL!
