I always enjoy it when a movie starts with a short. The pre-show before Cinderella was a Frozen short about Ana’s Birthday and how Elsa was trying to make her birthday special but she came down with the Frozen Fever where she sneezed mini snowmen. It was really a cute story worth seeing in itself.

Everyone already knows the story of Cinderella. This movie focuses more on her life with her parents and goes into detail about how Ella became who she was because of her mother’s influence. We learn of the tragedies that led to the loss of her parents and how she found herself stuck with her stepsisters and stepmother who treated her badly. Cinderella actually meets the prince in the forest one day and they both don’t tell the other who they really are. The prince fell in love with her there and made the ball open to the commoners and not just royalty as a way to find his true love again. movie

Cinderella has been retold in many ways over the years and I wasn’t all that excited to see yet another version of the same story. However, my daughter really wanted to see it and I knew she would enjoy it for she is an avid princess fan. I was actually quite surprised by the new version of the story and was glad that she talked me into seeing it. This movie spent more time on aspects of Cinderella that typically aren’t told. I liked how they introduced the Fairy Godmother and how it was similar to the cartoon but with a twist. The special effects are amazing and I especially thought they did a great job changing the mice into the horse, and the scene where they all turn back to their original state during a chase was quite entertaining. It’s a really good movie that can be enjoyed by all ages.
