The Coffeehouse Mysteries by Cleo Coyle is one of my absolute favorite series, so every time there is a new book out, I can’t wait to get my hands on it. The latest book, Honey Roasted, is book 19 in the series and it did not disappoint!
Village Blend coffeehouse manager Clare Cosi is busy trying to find a romantic, and affordable, destination for her upcoming honeymoon. Soon she will be marrying NYPD police detective Mike Quinn. She is also excited to share with her customers their new honey based coffee drinks and desserts, made possible by the amazing honey produced by Madame’s (her boss and former mother-in-law) old friend “Queen” Bea Hastings. The rare, prize-winning nectar from Bea’s rooftop hives commands a premium price, and top chefs compete for a chance to use it in their signature seasonal dishes. 
A swarm of escaped bees put a wrench into everything when they blanket Village Blend’s chimney! When Clare tries to sort out what’s up by visiting Bea, she finds Bea’s unconscious body after she seems to have fallen from her high-rise rooftop-hive setup. The police think it is an accident or attempted suicide, but Clare doesn’t believe it and sets out to find the truth. Clare is shocked to learn that the world of urban beekeepers is very competitive and cutthroat. Could this actually have been a murder attempt in order to steal Bea’s special bees? As if all of this wasn’t enough, something is going on with Mike, and Clare is worried that he might be getting cold feet!
I love everything about this series! Every time I crack open one of these books I feel like I’m visiting my favorite coffeehouse—I can almost smell the heavenly aroma of Village Blend’s wonderful coffee and desserts. Cleo Coyle has a gift not only for writing a clever mystery filled with twists and turns, and creating wonderful characters, but for coming up with unique ideas! The beekeeping and honey world that this story revolves around was unique and fascinating.
While I was a little sad to see less of Mike in this book, the issues the couple were having were very realistic and it added extra depth to the characters and story. I also liked how her ex-husband Matt Allegro rallied around her and was there for her—I love how their relationship has grown over the series to now being very close friends, and in some ways still family.
If you enjoy a great mystery with unique and wonderful characters do not miss this series! Honey Roasted is delightful, and I can’t wait for the next book! Even though there are now 19 books in the series, it is still just as good as ever! If you are also a coffee lover, then you have even more reason to pick up this series. I consider the coffee house mysteries brain candy or should I say coffee? They take my mind off of stressors and life changes that have occurred as a result of the pandemic. I look forward to the new book for another vicarious adventure. I have tried some of the recipes , too. One of my favorites is no-bake hazelnut chocolate fudge…a winner!

I have read all the coffeehouse mysteries and I don’t even drink coffee! All the characters are like family! The info on the bees and honey was so interesting. Who new NYPD had a beekeeper unit. My son in law is a police officer and he thought I was making that up.

It was the coffee that hooked me on this series years ago, and I’m reading Roast Mortem right now. It’s dedicated to all of the 9/11 Firefighters. I love the recipes, the love story and the love of New York City that is present in every book. If you like paranormal mysteries, I also highly recommend Cleo’s Haunted Bookshop series.

Love, coffee and food…what’s not to lust after? Cleo’s characters are not only “real” people, they have “real” life situations coupled with a crime or two. Love the series!
I have always loved the Cleo Coyle Coffee Mysteries, and Honey Roasted didn’t disappoint me. It’s amazing that many high-rises in big cities have beehives on their roofs. I never realized that depending on what flowers the bees go to the taste of the honey changes.

It was coffee that got me hooked on this series, and I’m reading Roast Mortem right now. It’s dedicated to the 9/11 Firefighters. If you like paranormal mysteries, you might also like Cleo’s Haunted Bookshop mysteries. I love the mystery, the love story and the love of New York City which is present in all of the books. A great series.

I live in Ohio, and I long to visit NYC some day. I love how Cleo Coyle incorporates real locations and destinations, and I’m frequently reading one of her books with Google Maps open and Yelp photos handy. Honey Roasted was no exception. I was fascinated by The Edge building and learning about the last cowboy in The Hole. And the icing on the cake is how much I’ve learned about coffee and those yummy recipes at the end of the book. I hope there are 19 more adventures with Clare!
My hubby and I thoroughly enjoy reading both the Coffee House series and the Haunted Bookshop series! We have even tried some of the different coffee recipes. Came across Honey Roasted on Audible and immediately fell in love. Being a coffee lover with hopes of opening a coffee shop of my own one day, and also loving a good mystery this was one book I couldn’t help but listen too. I enjoyed the relationship between Clare and Matt, the maturity in their friendship even though they are ex-counterparts. Unfortunately and fortunate for me I started this series backwards, I did not realize until I was half way through Honey Roasted and went to Cleo Coyle’s website that there was 18 books before this one.Of course I started from the beginning and working my way through the rest. Thanks for allowing me to escape into the Village Blend’s world.

Since I found this series my husband and I have become even bigger coffee snobs than we were before I found the Coffeehouse Mysteries. I ususally listen to them on audio and he listens in, it’s such a fun thing we enjoy together. Our coffee making has become an event, 🙂
I love this series. I stumbled on it a few months ago and fell in love. So I had to read this as soon as it came out. The first thing I did the next day was put honey in my morning coffee. YUM – a wonderful combination. I can’t do dairy – but love a ‘lite’ coffee. So instead, I blend some oil in my coffee to give it the froth and make it lite/creamy. It was perfect with a little honey added in. I can’t wait to try some of the other recipes and things from the book too.
This series is the reason I tried coffee again. Turns out it is tasty.

With all of these comments, my chances of winning are about equal to picking one coffee bean out of an entire sack of them. Lol. But I would like to say how much I’ve enjoyed this series from the very first book. I’ve learned a lot about coffee, and in this one I’ve learned a lot about bees. It’s fun to see how this husband and wife team have grown all of the characters over the years, but also how they always manage to find fresh ideas. I hope this series goes on for many more books.

Coffee, ironically, calms me – but also can uplift me – even rev me depending on the roast and quantity and timing of the cup! It is a daily demand and I admit not much patience as I brew it each morning (patience and production are a demanding duo, however, so I temper one via the other). And when it comes to my Coffeehouse Mystery next in the series wait, I find my coffee consumption is only tempered by picking back up a past volume or baking a next selection from my hand scribbled set of recipe cards.. until.. finally, a new cuppa and a new recipe with the next book – and this one? It is a real honey of a read!

The Coffee House Mystery series are the best cozy mysteries period. I picked up the series to read when I was recovering from surgery a couple of years ago because I love mysteries and used to work in a coffee house years ago,at the time I wasn’t a coffee drinker. Thanks to Claire I am now a coffee snob. Each book is so will written that I can imagine everything is real. The characters are so realistic, somewhere there is a Village Blend with all those people. Looking forward to reading book 19.

I really, really love this series! Not only is the cast of characters lovable and very interesting, I love the “coffee shop in NYC” setting. I’ve learned so much about coffee (which I love) and I’ve made many of the recipes, which have turned into favorites!! Like the firehouse Mac & cheese (or something like that! with carmelized bacon on top!), and the chocolate soufflé cupcakes, etc., etc.! Thanks for the wonderful stories, history, and recipes!

I first encountered you when someone left the first book in the Mystery Bookshop series in the lunchroom at work. From there I began reading the Coffee House series. Recently I’ve been reading Susan Brown’s mysteries but I’m almost finished and then I will reread the Coffee House series through to #19. By that time I am hoping that the next Mystery Bookshop installment is ready. I’m almost 77 years old and I look forward to every book from both series and I get anxious that I won’t be around to read the next. Keep them coming for me. Love, Therese

I read Honey Roasted in one day. Love the increasing depth of the main characters. Also appreciate that each book gives a glimpse of a heretofore unknown corner of the city of my birth.

I love this series! I’m so happy to see this latest is available. The plot centered around keeping bees and honey is fascinating. I had no idea that there were hives in the big cities! My neighbor keeps bees and shared their honey- there is nothing like it! I look forward to reading how this mystery is solved. It is an interesting twist to see how Clair’s navigates working with get ex!

Love your books! As a New Yorker, I always find it fascinating when you include the history of little know areas of NYC. I work in Queens and knew of the Black Federation of Cowboys. They would do shows at a park near my school. One day during a fire drill, this beautiful white horse with a handsome cowboy came trotting passed our building! It looked like a dream. It was one of the cowboys! I completely forgot about that memory, it was triggered while reading Honey Roasted. Love the series! Can’t wait for the next one.

After reading the published interview I find that it clearly and accurately expresses my thoughts about the Coffeehouse Mysteries collection.I have eagerly awaited the release of each addition to the series. The descriptive language allows the reader to feel as if one was actually “in” the story not just a bystander. It is very difficult to put down the book before coming to the end. I always have mixed feelings in reading the latest addition as I am so taken in by the story that it is difficult to put down but then sad because I have to wait for the continuation of the series which, for my liking, does not come out soon enough!
I look forward to reading all the books, I am half way.

I love this series and if I didn’t want to read it before (which I did), this review certainly piqued my interest! I love to sit and sip my coffee (well, guzzle is more my speed) and read this series. And the recipes are such a treat. I tip my coffee cup to Mike and Cosi because I know they’ll work out whatever’s troubling them! I thought the book was coming out in Dec ’21 so I’ve been checking my local bookstore for it.

Discovered Coffeehouse Mysteries (and Cleo Coyle) series during Covid when my daughter gifted me Book 1, Christmas 2019; both series and author became my salvation and I foolishly read thru all of them with the speed of Sherman marching thru Georgia!

I loved this book! I’ve been a fan for years and love this series. This one certainly doesn’t disappoint! Waiting for the next Cleo Coyle book is like jonesing for a cup of coffee.
“Coffee” in the title caught my eye on the very first book & I’ve been hooked ever since! I love a good coffee house & had my first experience with a coffee house in New Orleans at Cafe du Monde when I was ten years old – yes, my parents filled my bottle when I was about a year old with coffee, half & half & sugar. I’m 75 now so I have a life-long coffee habit although I’ve switched to creamer & no sugar. This series is the best ever & I look forward to reading #19 & thank you for the promise of #20.
