The Enchanted Playhouse will be presenting Cinderella at the Fox Theatre in Visalia next week. I had a chance to chat with one of the show’s directors, Kay Whistler recently about the show. She is directing the show together with Rob Meier.
KRL: Why did Enchanted Playhouse choose to do Cinderella?
Kay: It hasn’t been done for years and we like to do a princess show once a year.
KRL: What has been the biggest challenge with this show?
Kay: The biggest challenge is the carriage.
KRL: What has been the most fun directing it?
Kay: We have a wonderful cast! We look forward to rehearsal because we enjoy being with our cast. Some are seasoned and some are brand new to the stage. It is the first time I have done a play at Fox so I am very excited about the venue.
KRL: Does this production have any new twists or takes on the story?
Kay: As you watch the play, you will see familiar bits from Disney’s classic, from Everafter, and Rogers and Hammerstein’s production. The author’s new twist is the Fairy Godmother. She isn’t very accomplished with her magic. She is a delightful character.
KRL: Time, dates, location, and ticket prices and where to purchase them?
Kay:
March 5 at 7:00 pm
March 6 at 7:00 pm
March 7 at 4:00 pmTicket prices:
$6.00 student, $8.00 for senior/military/first responders, $10 general
