The Blossom Trail just had its kick off event in Sanger this past weekend. It is hard to believe that it is that time of year again but blossoms are popping up all over Fresno County. There are many more events planned, but one of the big ones is the Annual Blossom Festival held in Sanger, which will be taking place on March 3. We took a moment to chat with President and Chief Executive Officer of the Sanger District Chamber of Commerce, Tammy Wolfe, about the festival itself and this year’s festivities.
KRL: Is the Blossom Festival always in Sanger?
Tammy: Blossom Days Festival is always in Sanger, we are the only ones that do it and were the first ones.
KRL: What all is happening at the Festival?
Tammy: Kids Activities, Arts and & Crafts, Food and Shopping Vendors, Lego Car Show, Regular Car Show, Epic Adventure Challenge, LIVE Music with John Pemberton (Country Artist that is a National Award Winner)!
KRL: Can you tell us about some of the food booths?
Tammy: Sadie Mae’s BBQ, Mini Donuts, Cinnamon Rolls, All American Hamburgers and Hot Dogs, Authentic Mexican food. Most are from Sanger.
KRL: Where exactly in Sanger does it take place?
Tammy: 7th Street All the way down N Street from Academy and “O” Street.
KRL: What is a Lego car show?
Tammy: Cars made from Lego’s no bigger than 8 x 12, all age categories.
KRL: What is the Epic Adventure Quest?
Tammy: The Epic Adventure Quest sends you and your partners on a citywide adventure to checkpoints around town. Crazy obstacles at each checkpoint will test your brains and brawn, your moxie and muscle. Complete them all and head towards the finish where a festival with music, food and fabulous prize raffle awaits. It’s literally the most fun you’ll have on your bike or foot all spring.
KRL: When do you have to start working on the Festival each year?
Tammy: Four Months in advance. It is a labor of love and commitment. Although very time consuming, we always want to be bigger and better for our Families and Businesses.
KRL: What all is involved in putting it together?
Tammy: Planning Stage: Time/Place/Date/Activities/Vendors, etc.. Notify all, receive all information and applications from all involved, then advertise, and find ways to get our families and businesses out here to have a ton of fun with us! And KICK OFF our Blossom Days!!! Big Deal in Sanger! Blossom Days!
KRL: Is there anything different this year from last time?
Tammy: We added the Lego Car Show and Epic Adventure Quest and a BRAND-NEW Car Show! New and Exciting! FOR ALL CARS! It will be extraordinary this year!
KRL: What are the Blossom related elements involved?
Tammy: It’s the Theme, and it is the Kick Off for Blossom Days in Sanger. We have a Blossom Trail Kickoff 10k run/walk also. We promote our Blossom Trail throughout the Event, we have jams/jellies/honey etc., that come from the Blossom Trail.
KRL: Can you tell us about the Blossom Trail and Wine bus event as well?
Tammy: We have two Blossom Bus Wine/Beer Tours. February 24 and 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. We start with a fun tour at our Sanger Depot Museum with a beautiful breakfast, coffee and Mimosa’s. Then off to visit Kings River Winery, Marechal Vineyards, The House of Pendragon, Local Artist Shopping, and stop for spectacular views of the Blossom Trail with photo ops throughout. A Gourmet Lunch is included with the ticket price. It is an amazing trip, we sell out every year. Get your tickets while they last!
KRL: Anything you would like to add?
Tammy: We hope people reading Kings River Life Magazine will give it a try! We do cross over the Kings River and I do say wonderful things about our River and countryside, giving credit to the Kings River Conservancy for all their work on making it spectacular!
We will celebrate 30 years with a BANG!
