You think that people would have had enough with silly love songs. But I look around me and I see…that they have indeed had enough! It’s not like I’m bitter about Valentine’s Day, it’s just that my plans will include sweat pants, Ben and Jerry’s chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, and every Ryan Gosling movie ever created. Oh, and a lot of singing.

Since my sophomore year, February has been a surprisingly brutally stressful month. This is because Madrigals provides the “Serenade Your Sweetie” event to raise money. This is where we get paid to sing (to mostly all crying women) love songs. We have on average 10-20 gigs for three days in a row. Every year we sing the same songs but this year we decided to spice it up and add modern music. Tunes include: “Just the Way You Are”, “1 2 3 4”, “Heart and Soul”, “Come Go With Me”, “All I Have to Do is Dream”, and “Happy Together.” This is where we make all our money people so I hope a lot of your hired us!

In other news, winter sports are coming to a close. It has definitely been a great season for Pirate winter athletics. We have a wrestling title held by my former middle school classmate and friend, Isidro Arroyo, and Soccer (as you can imagine) has gone undefeated…or something like that.

Finally, excitement has finally engulfed the RHS campus! Let us all have a moment of silence for room 405. Now let us have a moment to enjoy the epic event of watching a room be set on fire during school! Room 405, as it has been reported, had too many electrical cords hooked in and one spark led to another. I was off campus during lunch when this fire was catalyzed. I rode my motorcycle back to school and had problems getting into the parking lot. Eventually, I was told to go to the football field with the rest of the kids that didn’t run out screaming during lunch. It was an odd sight. Seeing everyone in school out on the football field on a sunny day. It felt like Woodstock…in a way. You know you’re a yearbook kid when the first question you ask isn’t “Is anyone hurt” but rather “Did someone take a picture for the yearbook?” I’m still kind of mad that it didn’t explode during 4th period…I could’ve gotten out of a test!

After school, Channel 30 came racing into the parking lot faster than the fire department. I uploaded a video that can be viewed on my Facebook page. All in all, no one was hurt and the firemen did not hit on any of the teachers.

Next month remember to come out and see myself and the rest of the cast in West Side Story in the PAT! (watch for an article on the show coming soon)

Spread the word. I appreciate all of your lovely comments! I have been updated from a cult to an underground railroad.
