Actor John Cho At the Speakers Forum at Fresno City College

For years, the Speakers Forum held at Fresno City College has brought high-profile names to grace their stage. There was the actor Taye Diggs, the philosopher and activist Cornell West, author Max Brooks, and Sheryl Underwood who is an FCC Graduate and Co-host of The Talk on CBS … just to name a few. These events are for the students and are free to the public. Those who attended these events walked away with knowledge and lessons learned, no matter who was the speaker.

I am thrilled today to be reviewing the latest Sherlock Holmes book by Nicholas Meyer, and we have an interesting interview with Nicholas. Had I realized his connection to the Classic Star Trek movies there would have definitely been some Star Trek questions in there too! Maybe next time. Sherlock Holmes and Star Trek are two of my favorite things!

Went to see a lovely play at the Geffen last week, Mysterious Circumstances, starring Alan Tudyk as Richard Green and…Sherlock Holmes. One scene especially resonated with me, as Holmes scholar Green is shaken by the sudden rejection and ejection from his fandom by Dame Jean Conan Doyle, sir Arthur’s youngest daughter and heir. Memories abounded…turning the page back to 1983…

As a proud Trekkie, with each new Star Trek movie I am filled with excitement and yet concern. Will they do this cult favorite that has literally been a part of my life since birth, justice? (Star Trek and I were born in the same year). Well JJ Abrams has done it again! Into Darkness continues to breathe new life into this reboot of the Star Trek stories. It not only remains true to the original characters and world, but adds to it.
