In August of 1998, we moved to Japan to build the Universal Studios Japan theme park in Osaka. Prior to our move, we had hosted six Japanese students in our home. One of the perks of living there was the opportunity to see our ‘kids.’
Writers, almost by definition, are dreamers. On January 26, one of my dreams came true. Paradise, Passion, Murder: 10 Tales of Mystery from Hawai‘i was published after nearly two years of preparation and work. This anthology has one purpose, to help improve literacy in Hawai’i. Every participant in this project, from Carolyn Hart --who wrote our Foreword, to the authors of the stories about murder and passion in the islands, wanted to make a difference. Our dream is to see a day when more children--and their parents--can read. Hopefully, together.
Ghost Writer takes its title literally, as a deceased women's fiction writer guides, nags, and ultimately haunts a woman into co-authoring the last piece of fiction he would ever create under the nom de plume, Maxine DuBois. Whether his collaborator ever even wanted to write the novel is another matter entirely.
