Grease marks the 40th year anniversary of the Creative Center in Visalia in more ways than one. The elbow grease it took in 1977, under the devoted and relentless leadership of Violet Gingsburg, to get this beloved landmark of Visalia up and running for one, and then there is this month’s theater performance of Grease.
Most people are familiar with the musical Grease, whether it is because of the John Travolta movie, or the stage musical. This week Grease will be hitting the stage at the Reedley High School Performing Arts Theatre.
This has been a great year for theatre in the Valley! I’ve been blessed to have had the chance to enjoy a great deal of it, and KRL has reviewed and previewed even more—from the more serious thought provoking plays produced by new company The New Ensemble, to fun musicals like Grease at Reedley River City and the Valley premiere of Legally Blonde at Roger Rocka’s.
Grease, presented by the River City Theatre Company, opened at the Reedley Opera House this past weekend to a packed house, and from what I’m hearing the shows are selling out quickly--having been there opening night, I’m not surprised.
