Steven’s Eventful October Recap

My, oh my, this past October was an exciting month for events in the Central Valley. With the fall weather and the upcoming holiday season, everyone was excited to be out and about. There was a big selection of events to choose from, such as concerts, stand-up comedy shows, and sporting events. Most of those events were offered by The Big Fresno Fair. October is the month of Halloween, and the Valley definitely was given a major treat with events that were sweeter than candy.

The Fresno State Bulldogs football team beat Nevada 34-32 on October 23. The game featured the two-highest scoring teams in the conference. The teams combined for 984 yards of total offense. The Bulldogs (6-2 overall, 3-1 Mountain West) snapped a two-game losing streak to the Wolf Pack (5-2, 2-1) and lead the all-time series 30-22-1. Quarterback Jake Haener completed 26 of 38 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Mims filled in for starter Ronnie Rivers who didn’t play in the second half due to an injury.

Football season is here. No position is more important on the field than a team’s quarterback. He serves as the leader, the play caller, the face of the team, and one who delivers the ball to his playmakers. The sport is America’s past time. It’s hard to imagine that no matter what level of play it is, whether in college and especially in the pros where for all those individuals from the game’s past and present, very few have been Hispanic.
