Steven’s Eventful September Recap

The events just keep coming. Now that it’s fall and the weather is cooler, more people want to go out and do stuff. September definitely contributed to that momentum. There were shows, and it is football season which means it’s Bulldog time. A lot happening in September! The community really did show up. Here is a recap of what took place.

Reedley College Football: Head Coach Rob Hartenfels

Reedley College has a newly appointed full-time, permanent, head football coach. Rob Hartenfels, while only recently chosen for the permanent position, has been at the helm of the Tiger’s football program for the last year. He also put in some time on staff as an assistant with the prior head coach. Additionally, Coach Hartenfels has an extensive experience in college coaching despite his relatively young age.

Sports Recap: Fresno State Football

The Fresno State Bulldogs football team beat Nevada 34-32 on October 23. The game featured the two-highest scoring teams in the conference. The teams combined for 984 yards of total offense. The Bulldogs (6-2 overall, 3-1 Mountain West) snapped a two-game losing streak to the Wolf Pack (5-2, 2-1) and lead the all-time series 30-22-1. Quarterback Jake Haener completed 26 of 38 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Mims filled in for starter Ronnie Rivers who didn’t play in the second half due to an injury.

Football season is here. No position is more important on the field than a team’s quarterback. He serves as the leader, the play caller, the face of the team, and one who delivers the ball to his playmakers. The sport is America’s past time. It’s hard to imagine that no matter what level of play it is, whether in college and especially in the pros where for all those individuals from the game’s past and present, very few have been Hispanic.
