Feral Paws Rescue Group: Marble’s Story

I would be hard-pressed to meet a feline sweeter or more mellow than my gentle Marble. This is impressive, considering how many cats with whom I have interacted, and even more impressive when one considers Marble’s tragic background story. Marble’s history is one of abuse and neglect. He was filthy, rail-thin, and missing most of his tail when animal control brought him to CCSPCA.

Feral Paws Rescue Group: Zoe’s Story

It doesn’t always work out happily for cats in the shelter system, but Zoe not only found a loving home once, but twice. Zoe was initially adopted from the SPCA by a little girl named Ashley. Ashley’s gentle, nurturing nature soothed the shy and nervous Zoe, who was just a kitten at the time. It didn’t take long for the two of them to become the best of friends. Zoe was always by Ashley’s side and Ashley called Zoe her special baby; the bond between them was incredibly strong.

Rescue work is always throwing something new our direction, and on April 30, 2015, while at a high-kill shelter, I saw a beautiful one-year-old male cat in a cage with two broken front legs; a brick wall had fallen on him. The shelter wasn’t giving him medical attention, and it took until May 5 to get the final okay to pull him. We were told to be at the shelter the following morning at 8 a.m., because at 8:01 a.m. he would be put down!
