Rattie Ratz: Rescue Story, From Labs to Love

by Alyssa Nader

Patrick was a lab rat, rescued in a group of 53 rats from a biomedical facility. All that the Rattie Ratz volunteers were told about his time there is that he “ran mazes.” Despite his rough beginning, Patrick found a loving home, became the “gentle giant” that he is today and even met his soulmate, thanks to the love and effort of many volunteers.

Family Healing Center: Did California Decriminalize Prostitution for Minors?

by Steve Wright

I am sure your face looks like mine did the first time I was asked this question, which was just a few days ago. As much as I try to keep up with the laws in California and across the nation, I am sometimes surprised when I am asked about certain laws being passed that I am not aware of. So, of course when I was asked a question to which I did not know the answer (and thought I was being pranked), I set out to find the truth. Once

First things first, this is literally the last day to write those tax-deductible donation checks. Donations have been very slow the past few months and funds are at dangerously low levels. Please, please, please, if you have not already done so, please consider making a donation. No donation is too small. The Cat House Facebook page has well over 1 million followers.

In the blink of an eye the Spring Open House Fundraiser will be upon us. It has been scheduled for Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. We are desperately seeking volunteers and more importantly, donations for the silent auction. The silent auction is our big money maker and donations are slow thus far. We like to have the bulk of the donations by Friday, April 15. We can use just about anything including but not limited to handcrafted items, artwork, jewelry, purses, gift certificates for goods or services, home decor and pet-related items.

The Cat House on the Kings A Year-End Review & Reflection

by Jackie Dale

Well, I must say that 2015 has been a very busy year for Jackie Dale, Cat Trapper! I enjoy telling people I am a cat trapper, just to see the looks on their faces as they try to make sense of what I just told them. This usually leads into a spiel from me about TNR, as well as the benefits of spay and neuter. Occasionally it leads to a donation, which is always a good thing! Sometimes it leads to a debate because some people don’t understand what I do or why I do it.
