It is a rare thing to see a show produced locally that is currently on Broadway. Be More Chill is currently on Broadway, and just opened this past weekend at the Selma Arts Center.

This has been a slow month for Valley theatre. If you have already seen the shows at Roger Rocka’s and 2nd Space, there’s not much else to see in January. Well the Reedley River City Theatre Co. has a cure for that–a way to see pieces of a ton of different shows all at once–Legends: Lullaby of Broadway opened this past weekend!

I feel like I was just hit in the face with glitter and feelings.
That’s literally what I said as I left the theater.
I went into Kinky Boots not really knowing what to expect. I’d read a very minor plot synopsis, but decided to just experience the show completely raw, with no research or “online previews,” (since it’s so rare anymore that I get to do that). I am SO glad I did. This show is electric.

Theater has always been my passion. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t love musicals. I love comedies, dramas, dramedies; you name it, I love it. But this past weekend I saw a musical like no other. That musical was Jekyll & Hyde at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles. Now, Jekyll & Hyde has been a musical since the 90s but the one I saw was a new revival. I love the original version but in my opinion, the revival is even better.

My daughter and I went to see Avenue Q this weekend and since she knows the show so well I thought it would be great to let her share her feelings before throwing in a few of my own. We’ve had the great pleasure of seeing three Tony Award winning shows in a row now—this one being the latest—and I have to say each made me even prouder of the incredibly talented theatre community here in this Valley!
