Cedric came into NY/NJ Scottie Rescue from a busy New York City shelter. This Scottie/Schnauzer mix is about eight years old and weighs twenty pounds. He has no apparent health issues except for kennel cough, which is common with dogs that are pulled from shelters and for which he is being treated.
Louis is a Westie/Terrier mix surrendered to Westie & Scottie Rescue of Houston by an owner who was no longer able to care for him. He had thin hair and scaly, red spots on his skin when he arrived at the rescue. Linda, his foster mom, gave him a medicated bath immediately and then took him to the vet. The vet diagnosed him with dry eye and ear problems. Louis was put on antibiotics and eye drops.
Malcolm, a gentle boy with a mixed background, was found on the street as a stray. When Col Potter took him in and had him vetted, an I.D. chip was found and his owners were contacted. Sadly, they declined to take him. Fortunately for him, he was rescued by Col. Potter Cairn Terrier Rescue and put into the capable hands of Julie, an experienced foster parent.
Moreno Blue Too found herself in a California shelter. Because she was very shy and nervous, the shelter felt she was not a good candidate for adoption. Thinking she was at least part Cairn, the shelter called Col. Potter Cairn Terrier Rescue.
Mayhew is a six-year-old, eleven-pound mix of Yorkie, Maltese, and Mini Schnauzer. He was turned into a busy N.Y. shelter where he was deemed unadoptable because of behavior problems and a severely matted, dirty coat.
Tiggy, a young Cairn, was turned into NY/NJ Scottie Rescue when his owner lost her husband. She was overwhelmed with the loss and didn’t have the time to give Tiggy the attention he craved and was used to. The lady’s sister was a breeder and gave her a Scottie puppy hoping it would cheer her up.
A beautiful wheaten Scottie, Bailee, is a big boy at about thirty pounds. He has had a rough time, but has a lot of love and companionship to give to the right forever home. His original owner was an older man who had an accident and could no longer take care of Bailee. Instead of calling Scottie Rescue, Bailee was sent to a North Carolina shelter. He became stressed at losing his home and being dragged off by a stranger, so he bit the animal control officer.
Encino came to Col. Potter Cairn Terrier Rescue from a hoarding situation where he was in a yard with a total of ninety dogs. Terrified of being crated, he was not easy to rescue. However, surprisingly given the hoarding conditions, he is not aggressive; no growling or barking.
Donna is a nine-year-old purebred Scottie who has lived in the same home with her daughter, Bunny, all her life. Bunny is eight-years-old and a mix of Scottie and Affenpinscher with rather remarkable ears. Both are a bit overweight and had not been vetted since 2011.
Joey and Robbie, two miniature black Poodles, came from a breeder of show dogs and were very well cared for. So, when these two beautiful dogs were adopted by a woman, also in the dog show world, their good care and grooming continued, and, in fact, Robbie is a retired show dog.
