H.A.M.s, Much More Than A Workout Group

Their strength is in their numbers and in their like-mindedness, according to Health And Motivating's (H.A.M.s) workout group founder, Bennett Villarreal. What makes this workout group unique is the fact the workout group members not only work out together, but also volunteer for numerous projects and assist many families in need in Sanger.

Sanger Sober Grad

Attendance at the 2013 Sanger High Sober Grad event was more than double the number of students who participated in 2012, according to Sanger High Sober Grad organizer and Sanger High teacher, Sara Smith. This year 170 students participated, but in 2012, only 82 students participated. The location had a lot to do with the increase in attendance.

Earth Day Kings River Clean Up

More than 360 pounds of refuse and more than 60 pounds of recyclables were picked up by more than 200 volunteers during the recent Earth Day Celebration Kings River Clean Up, organized by the Sanger Boys & Girls Club. The number of community groups participating in the third annual event has increased each year, according to the Unit Director of the Sanger Youth Center Boys & Girls Club, Tammy Tucker. "I spoke to the Kings River Conservancy and we both agreed there was more people this year compared to last year."

KRC North Riverside Park & Incubator House Grand Opening Ceremony

More than 60 people attended the Kings River Conservancy's (KRC) North Riverside Park and Incubator House grand opening on March 16. Speakers and guests in attendance included John Thompson, Resources Manager with the County of Fresno, David Orth, General Manager with the Kings River Conservation District, Louie Long, Environmental Resources Manager with the Kings River Conservation District, Deborah Lapp, vice-president of the Board of Directors with the KRC, and California State Assemblyman Henry T. Perea.

25th Annual Fresno County Blossom Trail Opening Ceremony

More than 90 people from the Sanger, Reedley, Orange Cove, Kingsburg, Selma, Fowler, Fresno, and surrounding areas, attended the 25th Annual Fresno County Blossom Trail Opening Ceremony recently. This year the ceremony was held in Sanger and hosted by the Sanger Chamber of Commerce and City of Sanger, in cooperation with the Fresno County Blossom Trail Committee.
