"I put my best effort into hiring the best candidates I can find, in the Valley," said Interim Fire Chief Greg Tarascou. "They don't get any better than this."
When Sanger High School (SHS) students returned for the 2012-13 school year, a new administrator, Johnny Gonzalez, was there to greet them during registrations and first day of school activities.
More than 50 officers, from 14 of the 20 Fresno County 4-H Clubs, participated in the recent Fresno County Leadership Training event, which was held at Sutter Middle School, in Fowler.
"He was cute and very interesting," said Sophie Ramirez, about meeting a live Burrowing Owl, at the Sanger Library, during a recent visit from the Fresno Chaffee Zoomobile.
"Coming to a larger site can be intimidating. We want our kids to feel like this is their home," said Washington Academic Middle School (WAMS) principal Jamie Nino, when talking about the reason the middle school campus hosts the Where Everybody Belongs(WEB) program prior to the first day of school.
According to Pastor William D. Sanchez of the Faith Family Worship Center Apostolic Church (FFWCAC) in Sanger, more than 650 people were served a free meal, were registered and given free school supplies, and had their name put in a prize drawing for free bicycles, during their second annual Back to School Community Outreach event.
"Community Watch, Block Watch, Neighborhood Watch, Apartment Watch, Crime Watch - no matter what it's called, this is one of the most effective and least costly answers to crime," states the first lines on the Starting a Community Watch handout that is included in the Sanger Community Watch Program (SCWP) informational packet.
