Here are some reads to take with you. Don’t forget sunscreen!

It’s the 4th of July in Salem, Massachusetts. There’s to be a play about the historical town, and Charlene Morris is there to film, along with her housemate, Jack—a handsome ghost who shares the Victorian bed-and-breakfast with her and her Persian cat. When the star (who might be a witch) is killed by what was supposed to be prop gun, Charlene finds plenty of suspects. It could be a fellow actress or a betrayed wife. The investigation by Charlene and Detective Sam Holden could set off some fireworks. Mrs. Morris and the Sorceress is book four in the Salem B&B Mysteries by Traci Wilton. (While this book came out the end of March, it is set at the 4th of July)

More witches can be found in Spellford Cove, Washington. Robin Carter inherited a bakery, a ghost who needs therapy, and a familiar who does literary quotes. Business is going great. However, when bodies start showing up, Robin smells magic at work. Her investigation uncovers clues to her past and her biological family that will rock her world. With a Charm on Top is book 4 in the Spellford Cove Mysteries by Samantha Silver.

The coastal village of Beaufort, North Carolina, is the location of the historical Chapters Bed & Breakfast. Owner Charlotte Reed puts on special events featuring authors. On this July weekend a romance writer attracts throngs. She’s doing a “Tea and Talk” meet-and-greet followed by a book signing at Bookwaves. But when a fan is found dead in the harbor, it’s up to Charlotte and her Yorkshire terrier Ellen to sniff out the killer. Claws for Alarm is book #5 in Cate Conte’s Cat Cafe Mysteries.

In the second in Vicki Delany’s Tea by the Sea Mysteries, it’s Murder in a Teacup for Lily Roberts. When her grandmother’s friend comes to stay at grandma’s B&B, it turns into a family ruckus reunion. The tempest in a teacup escalates when one member is poisoned. Turns out the victim brought his own herbal tea, so Lily is in the clear. But, who is the culprit? Was it his estranged sister-in-law or maybe the teenage troublemaker who took a prank too far? The family feud has been steeping for a long time. Time to bag the killer behind the poison plot.

Welcome to Emerald Cove, Florida. Chloe Jackson is happy living there, mixing cocktails and pouring beer at the Sea Glass Saloon. On a morning run, she hears a cat mewing in a sailboat washed up on the sand. She finds a kitten—and a skeleton. Chloe’s friend is a suspect because his wife disappeared with three others a dozen years ago. It’s A Time to Swill in book 2 of the Chloe Jackson, Sea Glass Saloon Mysteries by Sherry Harris.
