When you have a dog, you want to take a lot of photos of them looking adorable. You may post them on Instagram, on a blog or just keep them as souvenirs of your time together. But this can be more difficult than it sounds. It is easy for your furry friend to become distracted and you end up unable to capture their expressions in your photos. But we have some awesome tips that can help you take good images of your pup. Let’s take a look at some of them.

Use Treats for Focus

Do you have trouble getting your dog to pose for a picture? You need something that they are going to concentrate on. In other words, you need a tasty treat that they are going to love. Grab a bag of treats and you can hold them behind the camera to get your canine’s attention – this is one of the easiest and most widely used training tips for pro-photographers. The dog will look in your direction and you can take adorable shots. If treats do not work to capture your canine’s attention, you can also try using their favorite squeaky toy. This can also do the trick.

Get Down to Your Dog’s Level

Think about what you do when you are taking photos of your friends or family. You normally take the photo at their eye-level since this is the most flattering angle. Well, the same can be said for your dog. The best snaps are going to be taken down at your dog’s level. This can capture their expression and it is a good angle for them too.

Pay Attention to the Background

Of course, you are taking a photo of your furry friend. But having a scenic background can make a difference. It can add color and interest to the photo. You also want to check that there is nothing distracting or coming out from your dog in an unflattering way. Thus, when you are checking out the shot, make sure that you look at more than just your pooch. Then when you have a good photo, you can put it on display in your home or use it on a photo collage on blanket.

Have Some Fun

A lot of the best photos of your dog will be action shots. In other words, your dog might be running to catch a Frisbee or chasing a rabbit or other wildlife. Perhaps they even catch their favorite ball in their mouth. In order to get these shots, you are going to have to encourage play and have some fun. So, grab your canine’s favorite toys and head to the park. Let your canine have fun without having to pose and see what images you can capture. A fast shutter speed is going to allow you to take lots of cool snaps.

Utilize Natural Light

The best colors will come out in your photos when there is natural light. So, on a sunny day, you can head out on an adventure with your furry friend. Make sure that the sun is behind you taking the photo. What’s more, a lot of dogs can be startled by a flash on a camera. The last thing you want is to scare your pooch.

  1. Good read. My dog likes climbing up the truck bed. I even bought a tonneau cover from 4wheelonline to make sure he won’t climb there when I ‘m about to go out of the house. My daughter loves to take a photo of my dog, Kirby. Whenever my daughter say “smile”, my dog seem to smile and pose. I think that’s adorable.
