Several new mystery movies have already aired in 2018 on the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries Channel and there are many more to come. Here is a look at the ones that have already aired.
A Deadly Deed: A Fixed Upper Mystery
Meet Shannon Hughes played by Jewel and Macintyre Sullivan played by Colin Ferguson as they work to find a murderer. Shannon is the owner of Hughes Construction and has taken on the charity project of renovating an old mansion into apartments for people who have lost their homes and need a new start in life. When the banker who has been fighting with the bank’s board of directors about donating the house for this purpose is found murdered, Shannon and Mac have to sift thru all the clues and suspects to find who did it and why. This series of movies is based on the Fixer Upper Mystery books by Kate Carlisle. I enjoy how well the cast works together and how closely the movies follow the books.
Reap What You Sew: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery
Candace Cameron Bure plays librarian Aurora “Roe” Teagarden in this series based on the books by Charlaine Harris. Roe’s old friend has become a crafting sensation on the internet. When she returns to town to open an embroidery shop, she appears to be a successful and loving person until someone kills her. Can Roe figure out which of the numerous suspects really hated her? This series has several movies, and all of them are entertaining. The cast comes across as a real family, and the plots are well done.
Past Malice: An Emma Fielding Mystery
Archaeologist Professor Emma Fielding (Courtney Throne Smith), her students, and FBI Agent Jim Conner (James Tupper) are called in to assist with an archaeology discovery at Chandler Castle. In the crypts below, a colleague has made a history changing discovery, but before he can officially announce it to the world, he is murdered. Can Emma and Agent Connor solve the mystery of his murder and the truth about his discovery before the murderer strikes again? This series is based on the Emma Fielding Mysteries by Dana Cameron. With two movies so far I can’t wait to see more. The archaeology angle makes for some intriguing additions to the murders.
