It’s time for the Star City Film Festival in the resort town in Utah. Movie stars are shopping in all the boutiques and skiing the fresh powder. The townspeople treat them as any other customers instead of autograph or selfie seekers.

One of the more famous is Matt Bane. He’s up for the biggest awards this year. Of course, he travels with a small entourage, but he’s just a regular guy at heart—just an exceptionally good looking one.

Claire Henry and her grandfather own The Rescued Word, a shop that repairs and restores typewriters and books. Matt drops by to get some personalized note cards and will come back later to pick them up. Instead, Claire sees Matt being led out of the hotel in handcuffs. It seems the dowdy woman who came to the shop, trailing after Matt, has been killed. For some reason, Matt is the prime suspect—probably because he was found standing over the body. book

Matt has his share of groupies as well as a co-star, a maybe stalker, and his manager in tow. With all the people in town, you’d think the suspects would be plentiful, but the dead woman was so nondescript, it’s hard to imagine someone noticing her—until her real identity is revealed.

During the film festival, a movie was being made about the sister-wives who lived outside of town. Surprisingly, one of the wives went to high school with Claire and her best friend, Jodie, now a police officer. In spite of the fact the family doesn’t want the film made, and especially not on their property, filming goes on.

Of course, there’s more going on than just the murder. There’s the mysterious man who wants to sell typewriters to the shop. Found money is a puzzler, too. Claire is invited to a mysterious party, only to find out others have been going for years, sworn to secrecy.

You might think that a typewriter and book repair shop would be a quiet place where nothing happens, but you’d be wrong. The town is welcoming, shops charming, people friendly. You’d willingly spend all day browsing from one store to another and thinking about skiing or just the hot chocolate you’d have to warm up. Visit Claire and see what really goes on.

This is book two in the Dangerous Type Mystery series. Shelton also writes the Farmer’s Market books (six), the Country Cooking School mysteries (five), the Scottish Bookshop series (two) and Red Hot Deadly Peppers.
