Details at the end of this post on how to enter to win a copy of Murder Has Nine Lives, and a link to purchase it from Amazon, as well as a link to purchase it from an indie bookstore where a portion goes to help support KRL.

Jaine Austen and her cat, Prozac, are back. Prozac has been discovered and is determined to be the next cat rock star in the advertising world. After all, the main talent needed is to eat like there’s no tomorrow and then take a nap. If anyone is qualified to do that, it’s Prozac.

Deedee is their agent. She works out of the back of a restaurant, not what you’d expect from someone who promises as much as she does. When the big day arrives, everything is going well—too well. Prozac did manage to sneak off and eat a lot of roast beef before the commercial shoot, but that didn’t dim her appetite. Now it’s lights, camera and…the Skinny Kitty food founder takes a bite to show it is human grade food and tasty to boot. Too bad he falls over dead. It seems the food—the food Prozac was supposed to eat!—was poisoned. book

Well, since Jaine had a disagreement with him moments before—he called Prozac some unflattering names—she’s a bit of a suspect. So is Deedee, the man’s wife, the assistant, the cameraman…you get the picture. No one liked him. It seems he was prone to stealing ideas from others and claiming them as his own—and making a lot of money doing it. There’s also the woman they call the Pink Panther. She has a job title, but it doesn’t mean much since she’s really his girlfriend and he parades her around, right in front of his wife.

On the home front, Jane’s dating a hot new guy who’s more than a little nuts. He’s related to her biggest account, so she’s pretty well stuck with him for the time being. After all, they just gave her the job of writing a brochure about their new hands-off potty, motion-activated flushing! A girl can’t pass up a job like that.

Jaine’s scheduled to go to Maui with her mom and dad if they can leave Florida. Dad has a crazy idea of beating the reigning Scrabble champion at their retirement home and Mom is at her wit’s end to keep him under control, especially after the incident where he was caught going through the champ’s trash—in his underwear. Of course, there was a perfectly good explanation involving a lucky hat and free Bermuda shorts.

This is book sixteen in the Jaine Austen Mystery series. The plot never gets lost in the midst of the side stories and is always full of humor. For an entertaining read, you couldn’t do better—Prozac says so. Besides if you buy the book, Jaine can afford more cat food.
