Details at the end of this post on how to enter to win a copy of The Pursuit, and a link to purchase it from Amazon.
Only Nicholas Fox could be attacked, kidnapped out of his vacation rental in Hawaii, and wake up in a coffin…feeling rather calm. There is only one Nick Fox of course, the internationally famous jewel thief who for the past few years has been working discreetly with the FBI to capture criminals through less-than-legal methods. Kate O’Hare, the FBI agent initially dedicated to seeing him behind bars, will now do anything to find Nick and ensure the safety of the man who now gives her the feelings of warm fuzzies. Taught by her father to disarm enemies with a toothpick at the age of eleven, the only foe who could possibly stand in her way is the cubicle-mate assigned to update her requisition forms.
Nick has been snatched by the Road Runners, international thieves whose brutally efficient methods involve ramming storefronts and stealing millions before fleeing the country. Nick can respect the results, but not their lack of refinement nor their homicidal leader Dragon Kovic. Knowing that Special Agent Kate, her ex-Black Ops father, and their team of assorted military and criminal allies are just a few steps behind, Nick must conduct an elaborate strategy to stall the Road Runners while managing to keep himself valuable enough to stay alive.
Kate is finally all-in on Nick’s elaborate, non-lethal machinations that keep him ten steps ahead of his enemies. He may never reveal all of his plans, but he will never betray his loyalties. Those extend to his returning team of a method actor, a lusty and busty wheelwoman, a tech support, and a talented set designer. Just as entertaining are the new recruits picked up in Paris and Montreal, a couple uniquely suited for the tasks and each other.
The stakes are raised with millions of lives at risk around the world, and it all leads towards a cinematic-worthy, action-packed finale as satisfying as any reader could imagine. The dream team of Evanovich and Goldberg continue to seamlessly blend their writing styles and humor for this thriller filled with witty banter and unexpected twists. The catacombs of Paris, horny zombie-filled fields of Ojai, and a castle in Germany have never before been this exciting, absurd, or captivating.
