Rooster Teeth is a production company for online content based in Austin, Texas. They started 13 years ago when they began to create a web series called Red Vs. Blue in a small room in one of the founder of Rooster Teeth’s, Burnie Burns, apartment. They have a ‘let’s play’ channel called Achievement Hunter, do multiple web series, short skit videos, podcasts, and so much more. I became a fan a couple of years ago when someone showed me a funny video of theirs where they were talking about, “What if you won a million dollars, but for the rest of your life a snail was following you trying to kill you and take the money.” It was a hilarious discussion, and I’ve been hooked ever since.
They have a wonderful community of fans who I have become friends with through their website, and I even got my mom to watch some of their stuff so I would have someone else to talk about it with. People all over the world love their content; so much so that they have a Rooster Teeth convention in Australia, as well as their other convention every summer in Austin, Texas.
They are constantly flying to different states and different countries to speak about Rooster Teeth and to meet fans. What started out as a few guys in an apartment making a web series about Halo, has now grown to a largely employed production company who even produced a feature film this last year. They made an indigogo campaign to fund the movie and raised a million dollars for it in a very short span of time. That’s how loved they are; that’s how dedicated their fans are. They are a widely beloved company. Not just because their content is entertaining, but because their company is full of kind, loving people with extreme dedication to their fans. I have never been a part of a fan community that felt as warm and welcome as this one.
I’ve had a tough year or so and Rooster Teeth’s videos and the community were there for me. When you watch their videos you feel like you are watching your friends; when you give money to one of their projects you feel like you are supporting your friends. When I went to a screening of their film Lazer Team at the beginning of this year, I teared up a little because I was so proud of them, of these wonderful group of people who deserved every bit of success they have.
Rooster Teeth has a little bit of everything for everyone. Whether you like gaming or anime or Saturday morning cartoons or podcasts or whatever, Rooster Teeth is a place where everyone is welcome and there is something for everyone.
