by Patti Yaeger
This poem is dedicated to pet rats everywhere!
Thou shalt not spurn Sir Mozzarella
For I can attest he is one fine fella.
Soft… ah perhaps… yet is firmness thy goal?
Or is it in how it is served… that thrills thy soul.
I can but attest to his fortitude
But no one can deny his wanton attitude,
Though … I find him rather attractive
As others cheeses I’ve known now inactive.
Now but old… some bedeck in mold.
Oh dear… oh dear… such visions unfold.
But … tales I do not share as they are mine alone
Shhhhhhhh. OH… my… do come in Prince Provolone.

Patti Yaeger Hauge was born and raised in Ohio and now lives on the outskirts of Seattle on seven acres of forest on a hillside, with her husband, Robert, two dogs Annabelle and Grace, Theo, an opinionated rag-doll cat, a pond of fish and is visited by a squirrel family and numerous deer on a regular basis. She also has a Beta Fish named Vern. She has four adult children and is “Nana” of five. She started writing poetry in her teens and won her first prize at age sixteen in a National Poetry contest. A love for words inherited from her mother who was a published poet. .[ Though her mother would never have written a silly poem about ‘cheese.’ } She loves to build with Legos and put together picture puzzles.. learning about photography and enjoys listening to music except for Jazz which is unfortunate as all her husband listens to.Though much to her dismay he also likes Mozart. Her desire is to progress with her writing and perhaps move on to short stories and take on a novel which of course would be a novel experience.
