The Reedley College Tigers just can’t seem to play an entire game of good football, just one half, and that’s the reason they fell to West Hills College 39-30 Saturday afternoon at Reedley High Stadium.
After playing well in the second half the previous week in Merced, the Tigers came out blazing in the first half against West Hills, and led 20-3 at half-time. Included in that outburst was an 84 yards kickoff return touchdown by Will Hanford on the frist play of the game. The Tigers trotted into the half-time break feeling great. That’s when the roof caved in.
The Falcons came out of the half-time locker room filled with you-know-what and vinegar, and scored three touchdowns before the Tigers knew what hit them. Although Reedley retook the lead and stayed in contention for the remainder of the game, they just couldn’t get their act back together in time to avoid their seventh loss in eight games this season.
The Offensive line has been banged up with injuries all season long, and it showed again on Saturday, as Tiger quarterback Trey Mitchell was sacked eight times.
The Tigers also suffered a significant loss when punter and Defensive back Patrick Greene was lost for the remainder of the season with a torn knee tendon and a dislocated kneecap.
All in all, it was another day to forget for the Tigers, who have one home game remaining, coming up this Saturday against Laney College at one p.m.
