At the Lambspun shop where all colors of the rainbow are sold in the form of yarns, there’s a new face — Nancy Marsted. She’s from the college, is shy and pregnant. When she told the Baby Daddy they were going to be a family, he nixed that idea and left her high and dry. Of course, the core group at the shop take her under their wings and make her welcome.

When things go wrong, they go very wrong. Nancy’s boyfriend is found dead, the victim of a hit and run. Unfortunately, he’s not the only one. Greg and Lisa are part of the group of friends from the shop. On his way home from a thesis party for a grad student, Greg is hit by the same car and is in the hospital. book

Pete, who runs the coffee shop at Lambspun, and his girlfriend Jen, are raising Pete’s niece, Cassie. Now, out of the blue, Cassie’s mom wants to be part of her life again. The group has mixed feelings about it, but since she is the girl’s mother, no one can say no. With Greg in the hospital, Cassie’s visit with her mom planned, and her job, Kelly’s hard pressed to keep up with all that’s going on.

True to form, Kelly wants to know what happened the night of the hit and runs. She’s able to ask a few questions between her work as a freelance CPA, the ball games she and boyfriend Steve play, Cassie’s games and of course, the desire for a new knitting project that seems to pop up whenever a new shipment comes in at the shop. Suspects? There are a few. It seems Nancy’s boyfriend was a cad to everyone he met. Clues are harder to come by.

This is the fourteenth book in the Knitting Mystery series. Lambspun is a place you’d love to visit and would find it hard to leave—just one more skein of yarn! The characters have paired off, bought houses, and are developing their own families while keeping up with the initial friendships. Carl, Kelly’s dog, and his squirrel friend are there too—it wouldn’t be family without them.

At the back of the book, find a pattern for a Llama Headband and the recipe for Cranberry Orange Nut Bread.
