E3, one of the biggest gaming events every year, occurred this year from June 13-15. Several gaming publishers and developers made exciting announcements and showed off trailers for some new games coming out this year or next.

The first big conference of E3 was by EA. They announced that the developers of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons would be putting out a new game called A Way Out where you play as two prison inmates trying to escape. It is a co-op only game where each person plays 1 of the 2 characters which allows for great collaborative opportunities. EA also announced that Bioware, creators of the popular game series Mass Effect, would be creating a new game IP called Anthem. More details on this game were announced at Microsoft’s conference. And, to the excitement of many, they showed off new gameplay footage of Star Wars Battlefront 2.game

The next conference was by Microsoft. Microsoft started out by discussing their new console Xbox Scorpio. They revealed the final name of the console, now to be called Xbox One X. According to Microsoft it is “the most powerful console in the world.” The Xbox One X will release November 7 at the price of $499. The game Anthem was shown at this conference, and we learned that you play as an explorer who wears a suit with superhuman abilities during a post-apocalyptic time period filled with monsters. Microsoft then announced that the insanely popular game Minecraft will be made to where anybody on any gaming platform can play together, not just a PS4 player with another PS4 player, etc. Those were the biggest announcements at the Microsoft conference. This conference was a boring letdown for many, including myself.games

Next up was gaming publisher Bethesda. They announced a sequel to the popular horror game The Evil Within. The trailer was cryptic, but made obvious that this game will be even scarier and more disturbing than the last. This game will be released October 13. Skyrim, a very famous game from Bethesda, will be available on the Nintendo Switch soon and will make it available to bring Link from Legend of Zelda into the game. Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus was announced and showed off in a long detailed trailer. Fans will be happy to know that much of the main cast of characters from the previous game will be in this game as well. The game will be released in October.book

Ubisoft was the next big conference of E3. The most anticipated announcement for this conference was Assassin’s Creed Origins. This is set during Ancient Egypt and features the origins of the assassins and templars. The trailer was lengthy, detailed, gorgeous, and very exciting. Ubisoft Singapore announced a new pirate game called Skull and Bones which is a spiritual successor to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. It is a multiplayer tactical action game. The trailer did not impress many or myself as it seems very basic and redundant. They showed off new gameplay footage from Far Cry 5 that showed of the dog companion you can have throughout the game. And last but not least, Ubisoft announced Beyond Good and Evil 2 which takes place an interstellar hub that people have moved to. The first game in the series was beloved by many, and no one ever expected a sequel to be announced, but to everyone’s excitement, it finally happened.game

Sony, my most anticipated conference, was like always the star of the show. Their conference featured a lot of trailers, live music, and impression live action reenactments to go along with the trailers. A prequel spin off to the Uncharted series called Uncharted: The Lost Legacy finally got a lengthy trailer. The game will feature treasure hunter Chloe Frazer and mercenary Nadine Ross. Destiny 2 will now release September 6 instead of September 8. A detailed exciting trailer was shown of zombie game Days Gone which showed us the crazy mechanics involved in surviving this zombie nightmare. A new game in the God of War series will be released in 2018. Detroit: Become Human, a playstation exclusive, released a brand new trailer showing the dark side of this AI filled world. The new Spider Man game had a gameplay trailer full of exciting footage of using the webs to swing through the city and beat up bad guys. game

And finally, the Nintendo conference took the stage. First they announced that Metroid Prime 4 would be coming to the Switch. A brand new Pokemon game, which I am crazy excited about, will be coming to the Switch as well, though no release date was announced. Super Mario Odyssey was given a lengthy trailer and a release date, October 27. game

E3 was full of so many exciting announcements this year, I cannot wait for the next one.
