ARGONAUTIKA: The Voyage of Jason and the Argonauts on Stage at COS

This Thursday, April 27, a new show opens at the College of the Sequoias in Visalia. Their Performing Arts department will be presenting a play called ARGONAUTIKA: The Voyage of Jason and the Argonauts. This one will be unique as it will be co-directed with some of the students at COS, together with Chris Mangels who is a Professor of Theatre and Cinema Arts as well as the Resident Scenic Designer, Fight Choreographer, and one of the two Resident Directors. We took a moment to chat with Chris and some of the students involved.

How I Failed My Way into Writing Books

March 24, 2021. My family and I were enjoying dinner after a show. I was working two jobs at the time, plus making my first feature film. After years of planning, I had shot most of it with the best cast anyone could have asked for, and magic had been made. I had brought my laptop and hard drive with me, hoping I could get some more editing done in the three-and-a-half-hour drive both to and from the show, but we were all in the moment and enjoying each other's company, so no editing had been done thus far on the trip.

While his full-time job may be passing along the basics of his artistic and practical craft to students of all ages at Reedley College, David Hicks relishes in taking the bits and pieces of organic inspiration found in the Central Valley and creating both monolithic pieces and conglomerations of smaller parts with his medium of choice, inorganic clay.
