Her full name is Juniper, but most friends and family call her Juni, and after a failed career with an Oregon-based tech company, she returned home to Cedar River, Texas. Her and two older siblings,Tansy and Magnolia (It’s Maggie!), grew up working in the Jessup family’s record shop that first opened sixty years ago by their grandparents.
Platters, stacks of wax, licorice pizzas, fuzzy warbles–call them whatever you want, but they're commonly known as records. If you thought this music format was dead and gone, think again. Better yet, ask Bob Lambert, owner of Tower District Records in Fresno. “It's fair to say that vinyl is making a comeback, but it never went away.” It's also fair to say that a lot of it can be found at this local gem.
Ah, January – the disappointments of the fall season are behind us and once again new series are on the offing. Here are a few that have piqued anticipation.
