Linda had been a Shih Tzu breeder so she knew the breed well. She had also done pet therapy work so when she and her husband, Joe, retired they were determined to dedicate some of their time to pet therapy.

A recent college graduate, Cato Johnson shares a house with six other people. Not exactly a situation for a pet. Dogs were not allowed in her rental, and she already had a bird so getting a cat was not a good idea. A bunny seemed like a good fit, and, though she’d never had a bunny before, Cato was ready to give one a try.

A dog person for over thirty years, Eileen Michaels has raised and provided early training for guide dogs in addition to showing her own dogs including Irish Wolfhounds and German Shepherds in obedience, rally, and agility. Since the early 1980s, she has had certified therapy dogs, but, in 2004 Eileen, met her greatest challenge: Ch. Foxfire’s Imaginary Monster or Shreq as he is known to friends.

Like most little girls, Michelle Cardosi was horse crazy. But, for Michele, who was raised on a farm, her relationship with horses was real.

I think we’ve all heard of service and therapy dogs, but I doubt many people realize that there are also service and therapy rats helping humans live better lives.
