Soul Surfer: Movie Review

by Kristalyn Patzkowski

I love reading books, and one of my favorite books is Bethany Hamilton’s autobiography, Soul Surfer. Now I can also say that one of my favorite movies is the big-screen adaption, which goes by the same name. The main reason why I consider this movie to be one of my favorites, is that it exemplifies the international inspiration Bethany Hamilton has been since her shark attack.

Water For Elephants: Book Review

by Amanda Hager

A novel is just too simple of a word to describe this story of Jacob Jankowski, a veterinary student at Cornell, and his compelling journey through life and love and the struggle to find himself in the world. He starts out with the perfect life: supportive parents, college education, he had everything going for him. But it all came to a sudden halt when his parents are killed in a car crash and he finds he has no money and no home, which leads to him throwing away his vet career by turning in his final examinations blank.

Memories of Prom 2011

by KRL teens

This year, being a Drama kid and Drama club President, I was so excited when they announced the theme was “Old Hollywood”. Soon it went around campus that all the chaperones were going to be dressed up as “Old Hollywood” actors and actresses. I knew that Prom would be a night to remember. My friends and I planned the whole night, getting ready, dinner, and who was going to drive. We were so excited.

Sports Medicine at Reedley High

by William Chiasson

My time in Sports Medicine at Reedley High School can only be described as a hands on, applicable class that is as educational as it is fun. The teacher, Mr. Kirby Kauk, does an excellent job of keeping the class entertaining with his endless number of stories and outrageously corny jokes that somehow amazingly help us study for tests.

Shiver Fox: Local Band Profile

by Kaiti Ray

Locally based band Shiver Fox, is so much more than just a local band. These four guys have really put their entire heart and soul into what they have accomplished so far and what they hope to accomplish in the future. Together Trey Tosh, Kyle Baker, Jeremy Luvas, and Noah Babcock have really set out to write music that may not go with the flow of the mainstream, but stays true to the wild nature of true rock ‘n’ roll.

Interview With Outstanding RHS Student Joyce Funda

by Amanda Hager

Joyce Funda a junior at RHS and the smartest person I know. She said in our interview that if she could change her past she would have joined more clubs and sports earlier in high school. I laughed because I think she is involved with enough already! But that is Joyce for you, she never gives up, she is constantly involved and nothing is too big or too hard for her. She is an academic inspiration and I can't wait to see what she does later in life.

Sports Parents!

by Larry Ham

Ok, I know, I know, when I started writing about sports for Kings River Life, I said I was going to accentuate the positive. But I have something that’s been bugging me for a long time, and it’s time to get it off my chest.
