This summer, make a variety of cooling drinks with little effort and a lot of room for creativity. Parents and kids alike will love it. Cut down on the sugar intake of regular sodas while raising the amount of fruit and milk for a healthier way to beat the heat.
With summer weather finally approaching everyone will be trying to find ways to stay cool and to have some fun. For those of us who don’t have our own pools the City pool has always been a great, inexpensive option for both staying cool and having fun. Unfortunately, due to the current economy some of those pools will either not be open this summer or will be cutting back on hours.

As summer starts to wind down, people continue to flock to the Kings River to find relief from the heat and have fun. The opportunities on the River are numerous and many are very close to home.
In 2007, Visalia dedicated The Jim Byrd Playground. This very unique playground was designed with the assistance of students from two Visalia elementary schools and physically constructed entirely by citizen volunteers. One of its features is the 1000 hands wall.
When I was a little boy, Mr. Walt Grawan owned the Sun Kings Café on Eleventh Street. All the local businessmen had hand-painted, personalized coffee cups hanging from a shelf behind the counter. Everybody went to Sun King.
RHS athletes not only show their dedication throughout the school year but during the summer. Students take their athletic abilities to the next level through participation in summer sports, proving they are serious about their sport by giving up time during their vacation to improve as a team.
