Reedley’s River City Theatre Co. has been doing Legends shows for a few years now. What started as a novel idea that could have just been a one time thing, has blossomed into a yearly event for RCTC and for good reason! Local performers take the stage performing as some of the big musical Legends, and sometimes comedy ones, of the last few decades and it’s always a lot of fun.

One would expect a musical named after a beauty product to be silly and fluffy, and while the musical Hairspray is filled with a lot of fun, energy, and laughter, it also has an amazing message–this is why it is one of my favorite shows. Hairspray opened this past weekend at the Reedley Opera House, presented by the Reedley River City Theatre Co., and I must say they have definitely done this show justice!

This past weekend The People Vs. Mona opened at the Reedley Opera House. The People Vs. Mona is a courtroom musical comedy set in the tiny town of Tippo, Georgia, starring an eclectic and crazy group of characters.

The Reedley Opera House is an old-fashioned building. It’s the perfect place for old-fashioned musical “mellerdrammers.” The River City Theatre Company, for its tenth anniversary, has brought back the 2005 show that started the Fanny series of plays, Blossoms Up!
