KRL believes in supporting animal rescue in its many forms in any way that we can. This week we are interviewing Vivian Bana about her rescue All About Rabbits Rescue in New York.
Here at KRL we like to feature animal rescues around the world because animal rescue is so important. Easter seemed like a perfect time to feature a rabbit rescue so we took some time to chat with Luke Stultz, the current president of the Minnesota Companion Rabbit Society, about what they do.
Twenty years ago, several days after Easter, my husband Bruce and I returned home from work, let our Cocker Spaniel outside in the fenced yard and went in the house. Bridget the dog refused to come back in the house, riveted to something white beyond our fence. Long story short–our neighbors had moved out that day, leaving behind a yard full of refuse…and one baby bunny. We cornered the wee frightened thing that felt like bird fluff in my hand, and I immediately dubbed him Precious. And so began our saga of rescuing rabbits.
Wee Companions is a small animal rescue in San Diego, California. Their president Fenella Speece took some time to talk to KRL about the wonderful work they do.
I became aware in 1998 that here in San Diego there was no formal rescue group for rodents. I adopted a guinea pig (I had them as a child) from a dog rescue group and that introduced me to the rescue community. I talked with the volunteers and got some contact names and began to make ties to the local rescue folk.
