Playhouse Merced in Two Acts

Earlier this year, Playhouse Merced was in the middle of a bustling 2020 season. They were gearing up to start tech week on their production of Fun Home and preparing to cast another production after a successful round of auditions. And then, March hit, and the world started to look…drastically different. Fun Home never saw the stage. Two shows were cast, but never made it to rehearsals. The cast of Tarzan was never announced. There were many questions about how to move forward, and when things would return to normal.

KRL tries to cover as many theatre companies in the Valley as possible, this week we interviewed one just a bit further way than usual that has been around for quite some time, Playhouse Merced. We chatted with Shawn Overton, who is their Box Office Associate, and whose duties include running the box office, media communications, and photography. She has also written an original play for Playhouse, and teaches playwriting courses for the Conservatory.

The gold medal for all-around wonderful kitty could easily go to darling Chicken Little! This cutiepie never misses an opportunity to hoot it up with her friends, explore any nook or cranny, and make it her mission to check out whatever happens to be going on. Chicken Little came along way after suffering a toe injury calling for immediate amputation. She's all better now and you can't even notice she's missing a rear toe. What an adorable combination she is of fun-loving spirit and sweet, deep affection, a girl who will easily capture hearts in a forever family that cherishes her.
