Another year has ended and once again we take a look back at a few of the many books that were reviewed in KRL in 2020. 2020 was a year most of us want to forget, but one good thing that did happen is that a lot of great books were published! Katherine Costa wanted to include favorite authors and TV shows that she has reviewed, so hers went up in a separate post in this issue.

Fire Touched By Patricia Briggs: Review/Giveaway

by Terrance Mc Arthur

Mercy Thompson is a mechanic. Mercy Thompson is now Mercy Thompson Hauptman, but she’s still Mercy Thompson, more or less. Mercy Thompson is married to Adam Hauptman, the leader of a werewolf pack in the state of Washington. Mercy Thompson is a part Native American shapeshifter coyote. Mercy Thompson is such a popular urban fantasy character that “Fire Touched” is the ninth book Patricia Briggs has written about her.

by Mary Anne Barker

Shifting Shadows by Patricia Briggs is a group of short stories set in the Mercy Thompson world. Some of them have been published before and others are brand new, but it’s nice to have all of the short stories together in one collection. I’ve been waiting eagerly for this book.

by Mary Anne Barker

Magic City: Recent Spells is a selection of previously published short stories which have been brought together because they have the common “urban fantasy” theme. The stories are previously published in different anthologies. Some of them are good; some are okay and some of them “bleh.” But if you select it because there a couple of authors you like and you read more of the stories, then maybe you will find some great new to you authors and continue expanding your store of authors to read.

Night Broken By Patricia Briggs

by Mary Anne Barker

Night Broken is the eagerly awaited eighth novel of the Mercy Thompson series and Patricia Briggs does not disappoint. I have been enjoying the development and progression of the relationship between Mercy and Adam since the beginning.
