Maybe they are the blues, and maybe they are the "blah”s. Whatever you call them, there is something about a let-down, a bit of cold, fog cover, and January itself that make the Central Valley the least attractive time of year for many. I almost shunned the opportunity to move here twenty-seven years ago because I came to explore in the mid-winter, specifically, January.
Do not panic KRL has not disappeared we are just on our first ever end of year vacation! We will be back with a full issue again on January 6, 2018 and there will still be some midweek articles before that. In the meantime, this is the perfect time to catch up on any articles you may have missed!
“Don’t ask!” I scream at the radio when that song is played for about the tenth time today.
It’s about 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve and I’m up to my elbows in dirty water, fixing the industrial sink at Carl’s Car Repair Shop. I give the radio a dirty look.
On the day after Thanksgiving the first bit of scary New Year’s poetry, printed by computer on plain white paper and enclosed in a plain white envelope, arrived at the office of the New York City Police Commissioner. Here’s what it said:
