Halloween at the Library

Another long, hot Central Valley summer has finally come to a close, bringing with it cooler temperatures and a fall season ripe with activity. The Big Fresno Fair is in full swing, and haunted attractions are popping up all over the Valley like zombies from their graves, in anticipation of the year’s spookiest season.

Hines’ Codex Born, second book in the Magic Ex Libris series, that’s libriomancy, a magical art invented by Johannes Gutenberg. If it’s in a book, you can get it, with some exceptions. Some writers just have their characters use magic to do whatever they want. The Libriomancer series has a magic system with rules and limits, and there are physical and societal consequences for breaking the rules.

New Library Brings Greater Access to Residents

Step through the doors of the newest branch of the Fresno County Public Library, and you’ll be greeted by the cool air, accented with the sites and sensations that only books can bring. Books can transport you to places where you can live, dream and discover the wonder within the words. Located in northwest Fresno at Teague Elementary School, this recently opened branch of the Fresno County Public Library provides a world of fun, fiction, information, and technology, all at your fingertips.

You wouldn’t expect to see a dog in a library, but Aero, a perky little Papillion, is a regular visitor at the Reedley and Orange Cove branches of the Fresno County Public Library, he isn’t a seeing-eye dog with a harness; he wears a jaunty bandana and tags that identify him as a therapy dog, trained as a reading tutor.
