Hard to believe that another year is almost over. A lot has happened personally and on the national and global stage which I could go into but it is better mentally heading into one of the most stressful seasons of the year by focusing on the positive. ReQueered Tales has published quite a few books in the last few months and that makes me very happy.
ReQueered Tales has been super busy in the last few weeks! Work has been done on getting out Ice Blues and Third Man Out both by Richard Strachey, the combo title of Deadly Lies/Stolen Moments by John Preston, Winter Eyes and Buried on a Sunday by Lev Raphael, and A Bard on Hercular, the epic science fiction conclusion to the City on a Star trilogy by Felice Picano!
Two months ago, we celebrated Pride Month. Each year during the month of June, the achievements, advances, and absolute fabulousness of the LGBTQ culture are celebrated and supported on a national scale with parades, shows, marches, and other activities. And while music, glitter, and lots of rainbow flags are festive, struggles and setbacks – private, public, and political – still exist within the community. And those issues will still be in evidence after the party’s over.
This is a call to action! Libraries and books by LGBTQ+ authors are under attack. In North Carolina during Pride month, one library was under assault by the racist, homophobic, xenophobic, and transphobic Proud Boys during their Drag StoryTime event. Parents had to escort their children out a backdoor so that they would not be inundated with hateful speech. Thank goodness for the librarians who stood in front of the programming doors so that the Proud Boys, escorted by police, could not gain entry.
I published Murder and Mayhem: An Annotated Bibliography of Gay and Queer Males in Mystery, 1909-2018 in February of 2020. Since the publication, I have been adding to the file for a second edition release hopefully in 2024, however, as I have been a working nomad jumping from computer station to computer station, I had everything saved on a USB. As many of you have guessed, there has been an issue with my USB, and I have lost all of the additions I have made since 2020.
Interview with Nicky Abbondanza, Noah Oliver, and Taavi Oliver Abbondanza, the leading characters in Drama Faerie, the 9th Nicky and Noah mystery by Joe Cosentino now an audiobook performed by Nick Reinhardt.
KRL interviews a lot of artists and writers, and during Pride Month, we especially like to highlight those in the LGBTQ+ community. This week we are interviewing local poet Aidan Castro. Aiden grew up in Dinuba and recently graduated from Fresno State.
Desert Getaway by Michael Craft is the first in a brand new mystery series featuring Dante O’Donnell who works as a concierge for a vacation-rental outfit in Palm Springs. At fifty-one Dante is feeling his age and like he has wasted his better years on starstruck dreams and the wrong men—including his ex-husband Anthony.
I write LGBTQ historical fiction, mostly with some sort of relationship running through the story. I’d be lying if I said I wrote romances in the traditional meaning of the m/m romance genre. However, there’s always a beating heart running through my stories, and not more than one or two men finding each other one way or another.
