Another year has ended and once again we take a look back at a few of the many books that were reviewed in KRL in 2020. 2020 was a year most of us want to forget, but one good thing that did happen is that a lot of great books were published! All but one of our main reviewers share in this post their top 5-10ish favorite books they reviewed in 2020. Katherine Costa wanted to include favorite authors and TV shows that she has reviewed, so hers went up in a separate post in this issue.
This week we have 3 Halloween related food mysteries to help you get in the mood for Halloween-Boston Scream Murder: A Deputy Donut Mystery by Ginger Bolton, Death of a Wicked Witch: A Hayley Powell Mystery by Lee Hollis, and Gourd to Death: A Pie Town Mystery Book 5 by Kristen Weiss.

Valentine Harris had come to expect the unexpected from her rather exuberant landlady and expert piecrust maker Charlene McCree. The delivery of a yurt at 4 a.m. was a little much though, especially since it would soon be accompanied by fifteen women intent on camping out for a weeklong goddess circle. The septuagenarian had Val and her Pie Town bakery’s best interests in mind, as Charlene also arranged under only slightly false pretenses to have the reality show Pie Hard film on site.
February is for lovers, no matter if it’s for a sweetheart or sweets. This month I introduce a new series by Victoria Hamilton and mysteries with weddings, a tulip-digging dog, lobster for a romantic dinner, and two “pie” mysteries. Enjoy!
Jayce, one of three Bonheim sisters, is relieved that life has settled down. Her coffeehouse restored, a curse lifted, her relationship with knees-weakening Brayden a joy, and her sister recuperating, but there's that niggling sense, a vision, a warning, and the odd couple across the street.
In a sugar-fueled bout of optimism, Valentine Harris doubled the staff of her new California coastal Pie Town shop. The future of her business depends on landing Silicon Valley’s Bar X as a client, with the first step being the pies she and her piecrust specialist Charlene McCree are providing for the Old West ghost town’s pie-eating competition.
