Alex Cross: Movie Review

Having seen and enjoyed past Alex Cross movies staring Morgan Freeman, I was hesitant to see Alex Cross, which is the new movie based on the book Cross by James Patterson and starring Tyler Perry. My first thought was how can Tyler Perry take on a role played by the phenomenal Morgan Freeman? But I went anyway--I mean it was a mystery/suspense movie and KRL had just reviewed the book.

The main characters in this book are Alex Cross, Michael Sullivan and John Sampson. Alex, the protagonist in this very popular series by James Patterson, spent three years in private practice as a psychologist and then became a full-time Washington, DC homicide detective. After that, he joined the FBI, working primarily as a profiler. Michael Sullivan is a serial killer/rapist/mob hitman, nicknamed The Butcher. John Sampson is Alex’ former partner from his cop days, and still his close friend.
