Into The Woods is a musical mashup of four timeless fairy tales: Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, and Little Red Riding Hood. The story of The Baker and His Wife was also created to tie all these fairytales together. James Lapine, the author, and Stephen Sondheim, the composer of this masterpiece, took classic stories and combined aspects of them turning it into a suspenseful play that is known for its turn of events and excitable storyline.

This is the second production of Into the Woods that I have seen in the last few weeks. I know I can always count on a StageWorks Fresno show to be well done, and their production of this Sondheim musical is no exception.
The summer theatre season has started off with a bang with Into the Woods on stage at the Selma Arts Center until June 27.
The San Joaquin Valley is very rich in great theatre all year long and we at KRL enjoy covering it and sharing our finds with our readers. As part of our 5th anniversary celebration, it seemed a perfect time to highlight some of the great shows coming to the Valley this summer! We are also giving away tickets to four of these shows so you can celebrate with us.
Into the Woods Jr. opens in Fresno this weekend, presented by Children's Musical TheaterWorks. KRL took a moment to speak with some of the cast, Chris Ortiz-Belcher who plays the Baker and Claira Broach who plays the Bakers Wife, and the show's director Brandon Delsid.
