Marjorie Kane and Alan Lockem are both business and personal partners. She is an former exotic dancer, and he was a free-lance photographer; now they are private consultants. Both are past middle age but in great physical and mental shape. When Marjorie's cousin, Edie Black, calls for help in clearing her son of a murder charge, Marjorie and Alan are off to Grand Lac, Idaho, to help out.
