Kings River Life had the privilege of covering the Fresno Monsters hockey team for the 2022-2023 season. It was hockey at its finest. We’ve covered the sport before, but something was different about this team. There was excitement, the fans craved watching the games after the pandemic, and through witnessing the wild finishes and the perseverance of the team, it was a very solid year.

The Fresno Monsters hosted the Wenatchee Wild this past weekend at Selland Arena.
On Friday night the Monsters played a very good game only to fall in a shootout to the 1st place Wild 3-2. Kyle Sucher and Trevor Husch scored goals for Fresno. James Mathias was named the games 3rd star for his high-energy play and big hits.

This past weekend the Monsters played the Jamestown Ironmen here in Fresno. The Monsters lost Friday night by a score of 4-3. "It was a close game from the start with the teams trading goals all night," shared Mark Haupt, Media Relations Director for the Fresno Monsters. Drew Aspinwall led Fresno with 2 assists and was named the games 2nd star and Matt Salituro got his first point as a Monster with an assist in the 1st period and was named the games 3rd star.

A Night At The Ice

Last Friday we attended our first Fresno Monsters hockey game of the season and I was reminded what a great night out it is for the family. Hockey may be more popular in colder parts of the country and in places like Canada, but it’s a great sport that really deserves more attention right here.
