Loni Love, the multi-talented comedian, actress, author, and co-host of the daytime talk show The Real, brought her comedy to the Visalia Fox Theatre on Saturday, May 18, and the audience showered her with nothing but love throughout the performance.
Every year, hopefuls from around the country move to Hollywood to fulfill their dreams of achieving acting stardom. The glitz and glamour of the art form is displayed at award shows, on social media, and in magazines. Some make it and some don’t, but that doesn’t stop people from giving Tinseltown a try.
Billy Batson is the titular character in the comics and the soon-to-be-released film of the same name, Shazam!. Once he shouts that word, a lightning bolt strikes him thus transforming him into an adult-sized, high-flying, crime fighting superhero.
Local filming has been consistently growing in the Central Valley for the past decade, and Fresno is no exception. With many independent projects gaining momentum, there is one in particular that stands out – John Neptune and the Sky Palace King, a retro sci-fi filmed in black and white and the story of a young man who must learn to think for himself whilst fighting a war for a leader he believes in, but who soon realizes that there are many shades of gray in what he thought was a black and white universe.
In Mary Shelley’s classic horror novel, Frankenstein, somewhere out there in the night of a European village, the mad scientist, Dr. Victor Frankenstein, is hard at work creating a monster in secrecy. As of right now, somewhere out there in Fresno, whether it be day or night, one man is concocting a witch’s brew of story ideas with which to scare mortal moviegoers.
This past Memorial Day weekend, while other people were celebrating by going to parades and having barbecues, a group of local filmmakers came together and went to work by shooting a short film in Clovis. The short story, titled Impossible, was a movie making dreams come true for those involved as their purpose was to produce the project to submit it to a festival.
On December 5, 2017, the pathway for faith-based film was forever changed. A brilliant screenplay by Andrew Librizzi was released onto DVD, after having a run in select theaters throughout the United States and Canada in 2015. Beyond the Farthest Star sets the bar much higher for films with a Christian message. This film truly captivates the audience, both believer and non-believer, from the first breath of the first scene.
What an occasion! The night of Sunday the 10th, the Tower Theatre was packed with people from all over the Central Valley excited to see the premiere of a truly Fresno Film. Shot and set in Fresno, created entirely by Fresno (or, at least, at-the-time Fresno) artists, Brick MADNESS charmed the audience, who was primed by a red carpet entrance.
