Another year has come to a close and the main reviewers of KRL have been asked to pick their top 5 books of 2015, but some of us couldn’t keep it to 5! Rose had made up her mind to move to Little Rock with her boyfriend Joe, a state cop. That was until her sister, Violet, and brother-in-law, Mike, split up. Violet proposed a plan where she and Rose would take over a defunct plant nursery and go into business. It seems Violet had this idea for some time which kind of makes Rose wonder if the breakup was all that sudden. The more she thought about it, the more Rose liked it—except for the part about not moving in with Joe.
Rose Gardner is having a heck of a time. Her boyfriend, Joe, is back at work, which means he’s a couple of hours away from her. She misses him something awful. Her sister Violet says she should date other men and find someone “suitable”—which means someone local.
Rose Gardner is twenty-four years old and has lived under her mother’s thumb all that time. She wears nondescript, ill-fitting clothes, has never dated, and does all the cooking, cleaning and other chores while her mother watches television. It’s better than when she was a kid—then, Mom locked her in the closet for being weird.
