Ask all the avid comic book readers, film buffs, toy collectors, video game players, and costume-wearing aficionados who love to play dress-up year-round, what’s the most popular gathering for this unique crew of individuals to congregate, only one place comes to mind: San Diego Comic-Con International.

When Marvel announced Guardians of the Galaxy, not many people were convinced it would be any good, including me. Talking raccoons didn’t really seem like something even Marvel could pull off. As time went on, and Marvel released more movies, more trust was built with the audience. So when a trailer finally released, I found myself excited. Turns out it was for good reason too.

It is the year of the comic book movie, and The Dark Knight Rises marks the last most anticipated comic book movie of the year following Marvel’s the Avengers, and Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man. The Dark Knight Rises is also the anticipated finale of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy which sought to give Bruce Wayne and Batman a proper sendoff. This review will be a bit short because revealing anything more might constitute some spoilers.

Wow just wow. Those were the first words that I could utter after watching the midnight premiere of Marvel’s The Avengers directed by Joss Whedon. After two and a half hours of just being blown away with constant amazing scenes I was literally spent. The amount of comic book fanboy moments in this film was insane and they were all so amazingly well done.

The movie I have been waiting for since it was first announced in 2009 has finally hit theaters and it did not disappoint. As a long time comic book fan, particularly of Marvel comics, it is amazing to see all my favorite characters translated from the page to the big screen.

The first incarnation of the Green Hornet was on radio in the 1930’s, then it moved to comics and film serials in the 1940’s, and finally to TV in the 1960’s. The TV show starred Van Williams and Bruce Lee.
Seth Rogen, who plays the Green Hornet in the new just released movie, came to the role in an interesting way.
