Finding Home for the Holidays: The Story of Bee-Yonsay

by Juan Guitron

The holidays are a time to gather with loved ones, to feel the warmth of family in the place we call home. For many of our adoptable pets, however, that dream remains out of reach. Their "home" is a shelter––a place full of care, but still missing the love and stability of a forever family. While we do our best to provide them with comfort and attention, nothing compares to the joy of being in a home filled with people who love you.

Feral Paws Rescue: Mia

by Paula Hunsacker

Mia came to our rescue two years ago from CSSPCA Fresno. She was so feral, hissing and striking at you for no reason. We tried feeding her in our large walk-in feral kennel, but Mia didn’t get along with cats that got in her personal space. So we released her at the rescue where she was able to roam the rescue grounds safely and have her space. As she roamed, we tried to make friends with her, but she didn't want human contact. She hissed at us as we approached her. So we just gave her space.

Orange County hoarder case of 83 cats––all lived inside a house since they were kittens. We were asked to help save a few of these kitties who are scared and shelter-labeled Semi-Feral. We are so happy to say, with the help of two other rescues in Los Angeles, we were able to save five that were remaining at the shelter and set to be euthanized at the end of the day.

by Jackie Dale

Due to the fact that I’m filled to the brim with kittens, it has been a somewhat slow month. I have been helping people get cats fixed and doing TNR as well. I will set traps at various locations and hope for the best. Some locations make trapping difficult, and it is often slow going. I trapped for one family that I had previously helped with several cats.

Jackie Dale-TheCatMother/Cat Trapper: Anecdotes Amusing and Not/More Kittens

by Jackie Dale

My month had an upsetting beginning because of a post on social media about an abandoned mother cat and five newborn kittens. The post led me to believe that the family had been dumped near a school located not far from my home. The temperature that day was around 110° so of course I was deeply concerned for the welfare of the cats.
